Finding trainee mortgage broker opportunities can be difficult, as even with the correct mortgage broker qualifications, many firms only seek out experienced brokers. This leads to a common quandary that plagues newly qualified professionals in all sorts of careers: “how on earth do I get experience when every job opening requires prior experience?”.
The good news is, our trainee mortgage broker program can help! Read on to find out how.
Entry-level mortgage adviser roles, much like many trainee jobs, are fairly hard to come by for a number of reasons. In this case the most common barriers are:
A high level of competition - The flexibility and salary that this type of career offers is appealing to many applicants
Mortgage broker roles are often self-employed - meaning there are fewer employed roles than in industries where full-time 9-5 employment is the norm
Most companies want experience as well as qualifications - Sadly, many firms don’t have the time or resources to train new staff, but this is where we differ
At Echo Finance we believe in the value of training and mentoring newly trained brokers. That’s why we’ve partnered with Mortgage Train Academy, to offer a stepping stone from qualifying straight into a rewarding career.
Every participant that successfully completes the training academy course receives the offer of a self-employed role at Echo Finance, where you will benefit from full support and mentorship.
Although we encourage you to source your own leads, and provide guidance on how to develop a structured marketing plan, you also have access to unlimited free leads here at Echo.
And because working with us also gives you unlimited access to the whole market, you place more clients than on a restrictive panel, even leads with most niche requirements.
Because we have so much faith in Mortgage Academy’s Mortgage Broker apprenticeship program, we don’t advertise our trainee mortgage broker jobs at all. Our intake of newly qualified brokers is entirely through this program.
We believe that the contents of the short, 2 week in-person training course fully prepares you to hit the ground running as a junior mortgage broker. It covers areas such as:
Practical mortgage advice skills
Role playing real-life client scenarios to build your confidence in overcoming objections and ensuring you convert a sale
A detailed look at lender criteria, and how to navigate the regular changes effectively
Administrative elements of the role, such as how to structure a file, and meet compliance requirements
Structuring and placing cases from fact-find to completion
Simply visit our Mortgage Academy page, click on ‘get in touch’ and then ‘work with us’ to find out more about how to join the program.

We have a strong belief that in-person training offers the best chance to progress quickly as a mortgage broker. So while the trainee mortgage broker jobs are entirely remote, the 2-week course takes place in Gloucester, in a classroom environment.
Retaining small student numbers on each course, and working closely with experienced industry professionals offers a unique training experience, where most modern day trainers would churn out derivative pre-recorded videos. We believe this gives the trainees that we take on a sense of confidence and understanding that those broaching a new career often lack.
Those offered a self-employed role with Echo Finance can work wherever they are (in the UK), and we have big expansion plans for the coming year.
“ We are very proud to have partnered with Mortgage Train Academy, who offer an invaluable stepping stone into a successful career as a mortgage broker. As part of our continued expansion plans, we expect this partnership to aid our intention to surpass 120 brokers by the end of 2026.” Lee Trett, Co-founder and Director at Echo Finance.
Unlike many trainee roles that tend to be in-house, our advisers are based fully remotely across the country. This means no matter where you are, once you’ve completed two weeks of training in Gloucester, you can work wherever you please. Whether that’s at home, or at our head office in Mirfield, West Yorkshire, you have the flexibility to choose. You can check out our team to see where our brokers are based across the UK.
To find out more, reach out today and we’ll put you in touch with the mortgage train academy to get started on your journey to becoming a fully-fledged broker at Echo Finance.
Yes, we cover all forms of property finance, so if you want to train specifically in the area of commercial mortgage broking, we can place you with a mentor who will train you in that niche. The same goes for any other niche that you would like to specialise in.
THINK CAREFULLY BEFORE SECURING OTHER DEBTS AGAINST YOUR HOME. YOUR HOME MAY BE REPOSSESSED IF YOU DO NOT KEEP UP REPAYMENTS ON A MORTGAGE OR ANY OTHER DEBT SECURED ON IT.
IF YOU ARE THINKING OF CONSOLIDATING EXISTING BORROWING YOU SHOULD BE AWARE THAT YOU MAY BE EXTENDING THE TERMS OF THE DEBT AND INCREASING THE TOTAL AMOUNT YOU REPAY.
